GERMAN HOME AN CHURCHES PHOTOS

The Bad Essen churchyard was formerly an ancient cemetery where many thousands yet lie buried. It was covered over about 1805, by order of Napoleon Boneparte. The cemetery was then located outside of town.

Jobst Herman Henrich Tieman was born abt 1746 in Buer, Melle, Hanover, Germany - according to records in the St. Nikolai Ev. Kirche in Essen,.... Research in the early Buer church books was challenging due to limitations of time and access to the records. In addition, the early records were often sketchy or incomplete; and one Baptismal register was missing entirely. The records were carefully studied, but of necessity, the parents of Jobst Herman Henrich Tieman have been determined with only circumstantial evidence..... The Tieman line continues with the following parents; Johan Jurgen Tieman or Tyman & Margaretha Elsabein Struve

Casper Henrich's grandparents were Anna Marie Catherine Gerdruth Johansmeyer who married Jobst Herman Henrich Tiemann. Casper's father worked on the farm, and the family lived there, prior to his leaving for America. The farm has been refurbished by Dieter, Ilse Kockleuner's brother, owner of the farm. In 1993, it was valued at one million dollars.

Originally built in the 1400's, and beautifully refurbished in the 1900's. In the freezing winters, this huge farm housed farm animals in the center stable; the family home was a series of rooms circling around the stable area. Records date Tieman families living there in about 1508, with some evidences even earlier

Mother & I traveled to Germany & visited this church where my 2nd great-grandfather, Casper Henrich Tiemann was baptized. In the church books we found the name of a sister, Marie Elisabeth Tiemann, not known to us in America! Later I found two more children, born in Rattinghausen, and baptized in Bad Essen! A girl, Caroline, & a boy, Clamor, who died. Years later, I found that Marie Elisabeth married a Christoph Heinrich Friedrich Horstmann of Barkhausen!
